 What is Emiratisation?

Emiratisation is the UAE government's policy of increasing the participation of Emirati citizens in the private sector, particularly in skilled and specialised roles. For decades, public sector jobs attracted most UAE nationals while the private sector relied heavily on expatriate talent. Emiratisation aims to rebalance this by giving Emirati professionals meaningful, well-paid careers across every industry.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) leads the policy. Its Nafis programme supports it with training, wage support and a platform connecting employers with qualified Emirati job seekers. The goal is not simply to fill quotas. It is to build a competitive, sustainable national workforce that supports the country's long-term economic ambitions.
