Their organization is interesting, and allows students to take broad courses on year 1 and 2 and only pick a specialization in year 3 without having to decide upfront when the join the university. This is the correct way of doing it pre-Web.
As per https://www.natsci.tripos.cam.ac.uk/course-structure as of 2026, the way the course works is:
* Year 1 and 2: you pick 3 random subjects, e.g. mathematics, physics
* Year 2: pick 3 random subjects
* Year 3 and 4: 1 major subject, but then within that there are multiple possible module choices
* physics: https://www.phy.cam.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/undergraduate-courses
* year 3 has a few mandatory subjects (core) and a few optional ones
* year 4 has major and minor subjects
* chemistry: https://teaching.ch.cam.ac.uk/course-guides
