Acoustic energy density
= Acoustic energy density
{title2=$E$}
For a linear acoustic perturbation of a uniform fluid,
$$
E=\frac12\rho_0|\mathbf u|^2
+\frac{p'^2}{2\rho_0c_0^2}
$$
is the sum of kinetic and compressional energy densities. Together with the <acoustic energy flux> $\mathbf I=p'\mathbf u$, it satisfies $E_t+\nabla\mathbin\cdot\mathbf I=0$.
