An affine scheme is a <scheme> isomorphic to $\operatorname{Spec}A$ for some <commutative ring> $A$. Homomorphisms $A\to B$ correspond contravariantly to morphisms $\operatorname{Spec}B\to\operatorname{Spec}A$.
