<Airy wave theory> linearizes the motion of small-amplitude <surface gravity waves> in an inviscid, incompressible, irrotational fluid. At depth $h$, its dispersion relation is $\omega^2=gk\tanh(kh)$; deep water is the limit $kh\to\infty$.
