An <aluminium>–<oxygen> compound containing Al–O–Al connectivity, often represented compositionally as $\mathrm{(RAlO)_n}$. Electron-deficient <aluminium> can achieve four-coordinate environments through cage assembly and multiply bridging <oxygen>.
