= Application-layer acknowledgement

= Application-layer acknowledgment
{synonym}

A <Transmission Control Protocol> acknowledgement of received bytes does not itself establish any stronger application promise; the relevant <endpoint> must establish that promise.<End-to-end arguments in system design by Jerome H.
