The atmospheric carbon-to-oxygen ratio compares the elemental abundances of carbon and oxygen in the atmosphere. It influences molecular composition under <chemical equilibrium>, but condensation, <disequilibrium chemistry in an exoplanet atmosphere>, and incomplete spectral coverage complicate its inference from molecular bands.
