For fixed $g\geq2$, a constant $B_g$ bounds all cuff lengths in some <pants decomposition> of every closed <genus>-$g$ <hyperbolic surface>. Together with <Fenchel–Nielsen coordinates> this implies <Mumford's compactness theorem>.
