Bioconvection
= Bioconvection
Bioconvection is buoyancy-driven fluid motion generated by a nonuniform concentration of swimming microorganisms. Upward swimming can create a dense upper layer, while a disturbance redistributes the cells and drives overturning. A <cell conservation equation> coupled to incompressible <Newtonian fluid> dynamics describes its linear stability under an appropriate dilute-suspension approximation.
