= Brauer pair

For a block idempotent $e$, an $e$-Brauer pair consists of a $p$-subgroup $P$ and a block idempotent $b_P$ of $kC_G(P)$ for which $b_P\operatorname{Br}_P(e)\ne0$. The subgroup of a maximal pair is a defect group. A maximal pair's stabilizer defines the inertial quotient of the block.
