<Bruce Elsmore> coauthored the account of the Cambridge One-Mile <radio telescope>'s operation. The instrument used separated antennas and Earth rotation to sample an extended effective aperture rather than constructing a single filled reflector of that diameter.
The measured correlations constrain spatial structure through <aperture synthesis>. Obtaining an image requires combining the samples with their baseline geometry and a consistent calibration.
