The cataclysmic-variable period gap is the observed deficit of accreting, ordinary hydrogen-rich <cataclysmic variables> with periods around two to three hours. The <disrupted magnetic braking model> interprets it as a detached phase after the donor contracts inside its <Roche lobe>.
