= Characteristic admittance of an arterial wave
{title2=$Y=\mathcal A/(\rho c)$}
= Characteristic admittances of an arterial wave
{synonym}
The <characteristic admittance of an arterial wave> relates the <volumetric flow rate> of a travelling <arterial pressure wave> to its <pressure>. For forward and backward amplitudes, $p=p_++p_-$ and $q=Y(p_+-p_-)$. It is the reciprocal of characteristic <pressure>-to-flow impedance, and should not be confused with the reciprocal <hydraulic resistance> of a steadily resistive segment.
