Charged-particle action over one relativistic cyclotron orbit
= Charged-particle action over one relativistic cyclotron orbit
For $qB>0$, choose $A_y=Bx$ and parametrize one clockwise orbit by $x=R\cos(\omega_\tau\tau)$ and $y=-R\sin(\omega_\tau\tau)$. Over $\Delta\tau=2\pi/\omega_\tau$, the <relativistic charged-particle action> is
$$
S=-mc^2\Delta\tau+q\oint A\mathbin\cdot dx
=-\frac{\pi mc^2}{\omega_\tau}(1+\gamma^2).
$$
The same formula with $|\omega_\tau|$ applies for either orbit orientation.
