The <chemotaxis FRET assay> uses <Förster resonance energy transfer> between fluorescent tags on <CheY> and <CheZ> to report their association. Interpreting this emission <ratio> as <CheA> activity requires the coupling between <CheY> <phosphorylation> and <CheZ> binding described in the experimental sources above.
