In a coordinate frame, the Levi-Civita connection is determined by
$$
\nabla_{\partial_i}\partial_j=\Gamma^k_{ij}\partial_k.
$$
The coefficients $\Gamma^k_{ij}$ are the Christoffel symbols. They are not the components of a tensor because a coordinate change contributes second derivatives.
