Nonuniform accumulation of suspended material toward the edge of a drying drop, commonly when a pinned contact line and nonuniform evaporation drive outward liquid flow. Contact-line motion, <solvent> choice, drying conditions and ink formulation can alter or suppress the resulting deposit.
