A <computer scientist> studies computation, information representation and <algorithms>. The work ranges from proving <limits> in <computability theory> and <computational complexity theory> to designing systems and evaluating them empirically. An analysis of <binary search> asks which ordering assumptions make elimination valid and how many comparisons are needed; a systems experiment asks how representation and hardware affect measured execution.
