Conjugate reduction
= Conjugate reduction
A <conjugate reduction> adds a reducing equivalent at the beta position of a conjugated carbonyl system. Hydride delivery followed by protonation can reduce C=C while retaining C=O, unlike direct carbonyl-to-alcohol reduction.
