Critical nucleus radius
= Critical nucleus radius
{title2=$r^*=-2\gamma/\Delta g_V$}
In the spherical capillarity approximation, the nonzero maximum of $\Delta G=4\pi r^2\gamma+(4\pi/3)r^3\Delta g_V$ lies at $r^*=-2\gamma/\Delta g_V$ when $\Delta g_V<0$. Smaller <nuclei> tend to shrink and larger ones tend to grow. Surface anisotropy and molecular-scale structure limit the approximation.
