Distinct evolutionary lineages or reproductively isolated <species> that are difficult to distinguish using the morphological characters traditionally examined. Similar appearance can therefore conceal <species> boundaries. Genetic evidence alone also requires interpretation, because population structure need not imply complete <reproductive isolation>.
