Cyclotron mass in a graphene cone (source code)

= Cyclotron mass in a graphene cone
{title2=$m_c=|E_F|/v_F^2$}

A massless-cone description permits a nonzero <cyclotron effective mass>. For a circular constant-<energy> contour of <area> $S(E)=\pi E^2/(\hbar v_F)^2$, the semiclassical definition gives
$$
m_c=\frac{\hbar^2}{2\pi}\left|\frac{dS}{dE}\right|=\frac{|E_F|}{v_F^2}=\frac{\hbar\sqrt{\pi|n|}}{v_F}.
$$
The vanishing mass parameter in a <Dirac Hamiltonian> and the finite cyclotron response away from neutrality are different statements. This makes the <temperature> dependence of <Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations> a useful test of the dispersion rather than a measurement of an <Electron>'s vacuum <rest mass>.
