A <deoxynucleoside triphosphate> is a <nucleotide> containing <deoxyribose> and three <phosphate> groups. <DNA polymerases> use these substrates to extend <DNA>; the four standard substrate types carry <adenine>, <cytosine>, <guanine> or <thymine>.
