<Donald Glaser> invented the <bubble chamber> to record charged-particle trajectories in a dense medium. A pressure change brings a <liquid> into a superheated state; deposited <energy> along an ionizing track allows bubbles to form. Photographing those bubbles turns a brief microscopic passage into geometry that can be measured repeatedly. His own biographical account explains the search for a detector that combined the advantages of a dense target with visible particle tracks.<Donald Glaser: Biography Submitted by Dr. Glaser to the Nobel Committee by Donald Arthur Glaser>[Autobiography, bubble-chamber research and motivation]{ref}
