= Dunoyer molecular-beam experiment
{c}
In 1911, <Louis Dunoyer de Segonzac> formed a <sodium> beam in <vacuum> and collected a deposit on a surface cooled with liquid air. Its shape agreed with straight paths through the slits.<The Method of Molecular Rays by Otto Stern>[The method of molecular rays, lecture 12 December 1946, pp. 8–9: Dunoyer's sodium beam, collimation and cooled collector]{ref} A deposit tests the geometry of the surviving paths. A clock or a calibrated deflection is needed to turn their travel into a <speed> measurement.
