Eigenvalue collision (source code)

= Eigenvalue collision
{title2=$\lambda_1(s_*)=\lambda_2(s_*)$}

An eigenvalue collision occurs when distinct branches of <eigenvalues> coincide in a parameter-dependent family of <matrices> or <linear operators>. The resulting repeated eigenvalue need not retain a full <eigenbasis>; its geometric and algebraic multiplicities must be compared to decide <diagonalizability>.
