= Elastic laminate
An <elastic laminate> has planar perfectly bonded layers with a common normal. Its piecewise constant <strains> differ by $\operatorname{sym}(a\otimes n)$, while its normal <traction> is common to every layer. For positive <elastic stiffness tensors>, these conditions and the mean <strain> uniquely determine the layer <strains>: the difference of two solutions has zero mean and zero total elastic work, and positivity forces it to vanish.
