= Electron density

The electron density describes the expected number of <Electrons> per unit <volume> at position $\mathbf r$. For a system with a fixed number $N$ of <Electrons>, $\int n(\mathbf r)\,d^3\mathbf r=N$. A <Lewis structure> allocates electron counts without specifying this spatial density.
