For number densities $n_\uparrow,n_\downarrow$, $\zeta=(n_\uparrow-n_\downarrow)/(n_\uparrow+n_\downarrow)$. Uniform <spin> <polarization> raises kinetic <energy> by concentrating occupation in one Fermi sphere, while lowering exchange <energy>.
