An exponential moment of a random variable $X$ is an expectation $\mathbb E[e^{\theta X}]$ or $\mathbb E[e^{\theta|X|}]$ at a specified parameter $\theta$. Its finiteness controls tail decay and the domain of the <moment-generating function>.
