Feynman slash notation contracts a <four-vector> with the <gamma matrices>. With mostly-minus signature, the <Clifford algebra> gives $\not p^2=p^2I$, so $(\not p-m)^{-1}=(\not p+m)/(p^2-m^2)$ away from the <mass shell>.
