An ordinary <acoustic wave> involving a <pressure> and <density> oscillation in local thermodynamic equilibrium. In a <Fermi liquid>, this hydrodynamic response requires collisions fast compared with the oscillation period; <zero sound> instead describes a collisionless collective mode.
