Flocculation

Association of dispersed particles into larger clusters, often after repulsive stabilization is weakened. Salt screening, reduced surface charge, <polymer> bridging or <depletion force> can promote it. Clusters may sediment rapidly; preventing aggregation and preventing gravitational separation are distinct stability requirements.
