Thermal membrane undulations generate <Helfrich repulsion> from a nearby particle. For a sphere of radius $R$ tightly enclosed by a high-tension membrane,
$$
\delta\simeq\left(\frac{(k_BT)^2R}{64k_c\sigma}\right)^{1/3}.
$$
