= Force constant matrix

The <Hessian> of <potential energy> at a mechanical equilibrium, expressed in specified displacement coordinates. It determines restoring forces to first order. Combining it with the <mass matrix> gives the <dynamical matrix> whose <eigenvalues> are squared mode <angular frequencies>.
