A Fuchsian group is a discrete subgroup of $\operatorname{PSL}_2(\mathbb R)$, acting by orientation-preserving isometries of the hyperbolic plane. It is non-elementary when it has no finite orbit in the hyperbolic plane or its ideal boundary.
