A <gas syringe> traps a <gas> in a graduated barrel with a movable plunger, allowing its <volume (thermodynamics)> to be varied and read. In an <isothermal gas syringe experiment>, the relevant total <volume (thermodynamics)> also includes any connected tubing and sensor cavity containing the same <gas>.
