= Glyoxylate shunt

The <glyoxylate shunt> bypasses oxidative decarboxylations using <isocitrate lyase> and <malate synthase>. It permits net conservation of acetyl-unit carbon in four-carbon precursors, at a different balance of reducing-equivalent production from the oxidative route.
