Typical <Gram-positive bacteria> have a relatively thick <peptidoglycan> layer outside the <cell membrane>, without the <bacterial outer membrane> of typical <Gram-negative bacteria>. This is a representative <cell envelope> pattern, not a complete description of every member of <bacteria>.
