Greenstone

A common descriptive name for low-grade metamorphosed mafic volcanic <rock>, often containing greenish <minerals>. A <greenstone belt> can contain these rocks together with other volcanic and <sedimentary rocks>; the belt name does not imply uniform composition or <density>.
