Gyrotaxis
= Gyrotaxis
Gyrotaxis is the orientation response of swimming cells to the competition between gravity-induced <torque> and fluid rotation. A bottom-heavy spherical cell tends to point upward in still fluid, while ambient <vorticity> rotates it. The response changes the mean swimming direction and can focus cells or contribute to <bioconvection>.
