An experimental <physicist> who coauthored observation of <nuclear magnetic resonance> in a solid with <Edward Mills Purcell> and <Robert Vivian Pound>. A radiofrequency field drives transitions of nuclear magnetic moments in an applied <magnetic field>; resonance appears as enhanced absorption.
