<Hexamethylphosphoramide> has a strongly donating phosphoryl <oxygen> that coordinates <lithium>. It changes <ion pair>[ion pairing] and aggregate structures, often increasing the reactivity of anionic <oxygen> donors. It does not universally produce free monomeric anions.
