Independent-record averaging versus high detector bandwidth
= Independent-record averaging versus high detector bandwidth
Zero-<mean> random forces vanish in an <ensemble average>, while independent finite-bandwidth sample averages have <variance> proportional to the inverse sample count. Merely increasing detector bandwidth does not suppress physical noise; it can expose more fluctuations. Independence, filtering and averaging are separate assumptions.
