= Isoscalar target

A nuclear target with equal <proton> and <neutron> contributions, or data corrected to that average. Its per-nucleon <parton distribution functions>[PDFs] are $q_N=(q_p+q_n)/2$. Charge symmetry gives $u_N=d_N=(u_p+d_p)/2$; using <proton> down-quark density alone is not an isoscalar average.
