A theoretical physicist who studied the foundations of quantum mechanics. In a 2000 proposal, he examined whether requiring an appropriate classical limit constrains the statistical interpretation of discrete quantum variables such as spin. The argument deliberately stopped short of a complete derivation: it did not establish the probability interpretation for continuous position variables. This makes the assumptions and limits of an interpretive proposal explicit.[ref]
