{title2=$-\Delta u=\lambda u$}
A scalar $\lambda$ for which a nonzero <Laplacian eigenfunction> satisfies this equation, with specified boundary conditions or on a closed <manifold>, is an eigenvalue of the positive <Laplacian>. A <Dirichlet Laplacian eigenvalue> imposes zero boundary values; other boundary conditions generally change the <spectrum>.
