= Linear cosmological density perturbation

For pressureless subhorizon matter perturbations, a Fourier mode in conformal time obeys
$$
\delta''+\mathcal H\delta'-\frac32\Omega_M\mathcal H^2\delta=0,
$$
where $\mathcal H=a'/a$.

These equations describe the small-amplitude phase of <structure formation>; nonlinear growth requires a more general treatment.
