For a rational homology three-sphere $Y$, the linking form is the nonsingular pairing
$$
\lambda_Y:\operatorname{Tor}H_1(Y)\times\operatorname{Tor}H_1(Y)\to\mathbb Q/\mathbb Z.
$$
Reversing the orientation of $Y$ negates this form.
